AMBER ROLLAND – Hoof Prints Staff Just as the clock reached six minutes in the first quarter, Kaylee Greathouse sank a three-pointer from the left wing to give the Lady Mustangs their first points and the lead at 3-2. Unfortunately, the Lady Mustangs remained scoreless for the rest of the first quarter while the Lady Trojans put up nine more points to bring the score to 11-3. [...]
AMBER ROLLAND – Hoof Prints Staff The first three minutes of action in the Lady Mustangs’ Friday night match-up with the Mountainburg Lady Dragons saw no score for the home team. After the Lady Mustangs received the tip, sophomore Brittany Fowler was pick-pocketed by a Mountainburg guard who turned the opportunity into a fast-break layup. The Lady Dragons scored four more unanswered points before Fowler drove into the lane for a layup. From that point on, the Lady Mustangs were never down by more than four and successfully closed the gap to one point at the end of the first quarter with a score of 14-15. [...]
NATHAN WHITLOW – Guest Sports Writer The stadium is packed, but the crowd is hushed. Nothing seemed to work until they tried something different. That something different was a full court press. Confusion and fatigue seemed to dismay the opposing team. Pass after pass and turnover after turnover, the Lady Mustangs found themselves slowly inching back into the game. With each turnover comes a loud roar from the crowd, and an even louder roar after a layup. They finally found the Achilles heel of the opposing team. [...]
