Not allowed to have our cake and eat it too

AMBER ROLLAND – Hoof Prints Editor It happens all the time. My entire class will be in the middle of a test in our third period class and a sound much like that of a roaring lion will rip through the silence. Every eye in the room is then pin-pointed at the red-faced person who is clutching their stomach and angrily whispering for it to stop growling. Could these abdominal outbursts be silenced by allowing students to eat and drink in class? [...]

Rambling about rules

MORGAN BARNES – Hoof Prints Staff Homecoming week is the one week out of the school year that students can dress and act silly with their fellow classmates without getting in trouble. Even though exciting activities such as the wacky olympics take place, there must be some sort of order to the process. [...]

Needed: Escorts without a basketball

DANIELLE SCHOOLEY – Hoof Prints Staff Homecoming is a night everyone looks forward to. Each grade votes for their class representatives and then awaits for the announcements to be made, excited to hear who the lucky three will be. [...]

It’s a lock

DANIELLE SCHOOLEY – Hoof Prints Staff

As you open up your locker, you notice something is missing. Your purse, your backpack or maybe even a book. The question is who could have taken this? Although one may assume it would be someone that has a locker near yours but in all reality, you can’t just [...]

Driving age should remain the same

CLAY TURNER – Hoof Prints Staff

I believe that the driving age shouldn’t be raised. The only reason younger people have accidents is because they are less experienced. If we were to raise the driving age to eighteen, there would be more 18- and 19-year-old inexperienced drivers having accidents. Most likely [...]

Tweet freaks

JILLIAN KEY – Hoof Prints Staff Stressed out about all the homework? Tweet about it. Excited about the upcoming basketball season? Tweet about it. Mad about getting detention for being on Twitter during school? Tweet about it. [...]

Should there be a baccalaureate service for seniors?

BIANCA GARCIA – Hoof Prints Staff Baccalaureate has been going on for years; it is practically a tradition. A baccalaureate service has always been held on the Sunday before graduation to honor the graduating class. After years of homework, projects and tests, what senior, or any other student for that matter, would mind getting honored for their accomplishments? But recently it has been questioned if there should even be a service. [...]

Should seniors have a monopoly on the crown?

BIANCA GARCIA – Hoof Prints Staff To stick with tradition or not? That is the question. This year homecoming has made some major changes that have veered from tradition. So why not go full out and change the whole presentation? I think it’s time to set a new mark and start something new in itself. I think the last thing left of a new beginning for homecoming is that all nine princesses should be eligible to become queen. The classes will still vote for three princesses, but at the end the crown will be up for grabs. It won’t be restricted for just senior princesses. [...]

Is Santa story good for kids?

CLAY TURNER – Hoof Prints Staff Christmas is the one time of year when honesty is not the best policy. It’s a time when children believe in one imaginary person that brings them more hope than anything during that time: Santa Claus. The question is whether or not you tell them the truth and crush their dreams about his existence or go along with the lie that has been imposed on them ever since they were born. [...]

Are vending machines really the problem?

BIANCA GARCIA – Hoof Prints Staff Vending machines: chips, soda and candy. Cafeteria food: sweets, milk, chips, meat products and fruit. These are the items that are found in these two locations. Some may think that the cafeteria food is much healthier than the vending machines. But is this factual? In my opinion, they are basically the same except one comes out of a machine and the other is served on a tray. So I don’t see a problem in having vending machines at our school. [...]
